The new commander of the 6th Air Mobility Wing thanks Maj. Gen. (Sel.) Wayne Hodges for leaving MacDill in such "incredible" shape.

"I am extremely honored and proud to be your new commander," said Col. David M. Snyder, who assumed command Jan. 10. Hodges heads to the Pentagon to become the mission area director, global reach, assistant secretary of the Air Force for acquisition. He had been commander of the 6th AMW for nearly 18 months. Snyder comes from United States Transportation Command, Scott Air Force Base, Ill., where he served as the executive officer to the commander.

Maj. Gen. George Williams, 21st Air Force commander, presided over the change-of-command ceremony, where Snyder thanked everyone for attending and sharing such an exciting moment with him and his family.

"Coming from Transportation Command, I've had the firsthand opportunity to hear about the wing's record of excellence and accomplishments," said Snyder.

"Like Gen. Hodges, I care about the 6th Air Mobility Wing and MacDill team - the people - which is what makes MacDill so sucessful."

Snyder said his number one priority is to provide MacDill with the resources, policies and leadership needed to complete the wing and Air Force mission.

Snyder added that he and his family have heard only good things about MacDill and the Tampa Bay community and are looking forward to "diving into the Tampa experience" and seeing the area for themselves.
