Harvest Share gives away 250 Thanksgiving meals

by 2nd Lt. Tamika Washington
6th Communications Squadron
Senior Master Sgt. Dave Berry, U.S. Central Command, J2, senior enlisted advisor, passes a box with all of the Thanksgiving trimmings to Master Sgt. Kelly Smith, CENTCOM, to be delivered to an enlisted family.

What a success we had this year for Harvest Share 2003! This year marks the seventh year of the program in which the Company Grade Officer's Council has led the way. With everyone's help we were able to provide food for 250 less-fortunate families of Team MacDill. It would not have been such a huge success the help of many people. On behalf of the CGOC, I want to thank the following for helping with Harvest Share 2003:

  • The base commissary community who provided the turkeys and additional non-perishable items for all 250 baskets.
  • The base commissary also provided the space for collecting and assembling the baskets.
  • First Sergeant's Council for their support of helping with the collection and distribution of the baskets.
  • MacDill Top III for their continuous support of the Harvest Share program.
  • 6th Security Forces Squadron for their generous contribution.
  • Countless volunteers who donated their time to help collect and assemble the food for the baskets.
  • All base personnel who selflessly donated food and money to this worthy cause.

Again, thank you to everyone for remembering what the true meaning of the holiday season is: giving of yourself
