Tops in Blue offers MacDill, Tampa free show

Public Affairs report

The U.S. Air Force's Tops in Blue is offering a free night of family entertainment at the Tampa Theater Monday at 7:30 p.m. The historic theater is located at 711 N. Franklin St. in downtown Tampa.

"For almost 50 years, Tops in Blue has been energizing audiences around the world," said Lt. Col. Patrick Dunn, 6th Services Squadron commander. "This year's show is no exception and we look forward to sharing it with the entire Tampa Bay community."

This year's edition of Tops in Blue will take you on a 90-minute musical journey across the country on a train called the "Spirit of America." From New York down to Miami and Detroit to Texas, the show includes big-band swing, hot Latin sounds, country music, hip-hop, pop and the finale featuring "God Bless the USA."

"Tops in Blue is the Air Force's premier entertainment showcase," said Tom Edwards, show producer and chief of Air Force Entertainment. "The team is a reflection of the 'best of the best' performers from throughout the Air Force." The Tops in Blue team will have visited more than 110 locations and performed 130 shows in the U.S. and 20 foreign countries when it wraps up the season in March. Its official Web site at www.airforcetopsinblue.com provides information about the rest of the touring schedule and how to join the team.

"We're proud to announce the continued sponsorship of AT&T and First Command," said Edwards. "It's through their generous support of the program that enables our Air Force family to enjoy this free, premier entertainment showcase." Attendees will have the opportunity to register for a $200 AAFES gift certificate to be presented by First Command at the show.
