Water quality tests prove drinking water safe

MacDill notified base personnel that the drinking water exceeded Florida drinking water standards.

Water customers were advised that four of 30 water samples collected in January contained non-harmful coliform bacteria. The samples that tested positive all were collected from the fuel farm area (facilities 1121 and 1122) and no other parts of the base were affected.

Operations branch, 6th Civil Engineer Squadron, flushed the water mains in the fuel farm area to correct the situation and bioenvironmental engineering flight, 6th Aerospace Medicine Squadron completed additional water testing. The additional testing confirmed no harmful bacteria in the water.

Additional information is available in the notice provided to water system users. For more information, contact Staff Sgt. Brian Long at 827-9570 or Michael Harrison at 828-0458 if you did not receive the notice or have any questions.
