Fire destroys housing unit

Fire fighters from the 6th Civil Engineer Squadron battle the blaze. They were on the scene within minutes from the original report of fire.

A duplex housing unit at 1807 Cabbage Court caught fire yesterday at around 5:20 p.m. Base fire fighters responded to the scene and were able to extinguish the blaze by 8:15 p.m. All residents and fire fighters were accounted for and no injuries were reported.

The new Heritage Cove housing unit, located adjacent to the hospital, was engulfed in flames and totally destroyed. The adjoining unit suffered smoke and water damage. Damage is estimated at $300,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
