Command to celebrate enlisted excellence

Air Mobility Command's annual Outstanding Airmen and First Sergeant of the Year banquet celebrating enlisted excellence is scheduled for 6 p.m. April 10 at the Scott Club, Scott Air Force Base, Ill. Gen. John W. Handy, AMC commander, is hosting the event honoring the command's finest enlisted men and women. Chief Master Sgt. Lew Monroe, 6th Air Mobility Wing command chief will attend along with Senior Master Sgt. Jim Cody, 6th Operations Support Squadron, who will be the master of ceremonies.

"We look forward to this opportunity to recognize these military professionals," said Chief Master Sgt. Michael R. Kerver, command chief master sergeant for AMC. "They are our best and examples of the excellence in all of AMC's people. General Handy and I take great pride in honoring our outstanding airmen for 2002, and wish to extend the opportunity for others in the command to do the same.

"It is our hope that many people throughout AMC can find the time to make their way to Scott and celebrate our command's finest airmen."

Kerver explained plans are well underway to make the event a night to remember. Scheduled to perform at the banquet is the United States Air Force Band of Mid-America's premier combo, Starlifter. Menu for the evening is open-faced chicken cordon bleu, signature salad, green beans almondine, parsley new potatoes and chocolate mousse. Cost is $21 for club members and $24 for nonmembers.

Reservations for the banquet may be made through local command chiefs no later than March 26. Billeting at Scott AFB, Ill., is available by calling (618) 256-2045 or DSN 576-2045. (AMCNS)
