Tampa Bay Lightning salute Bay Area Purple Heart recipients

6th Air Mobility Wing Purple Heart recipients Senior Master Sgt. Joel Tyler, 6th Maintenance Squadron, and Tech. Sgt. John Polatayko, 6th Operations Group, participate in the ceremonial puck drop at the Tampa Bay Lightning game Nov. 10 at the St. Pete Times Forum.

Sergeants Tyler and Polatayko joined other Purple Heart recipients from other conflicts and services and National Hockey League superstars Dave Andreychuk from the Lightning and Jaromir Jagr of the New York Rangers for the traditional opening of the game.

The Tampa Bay Lightning used the opening ceremonies as a tribute for Veterans Day. The 6th AMW and Tampa Police Department Honor Guards also participated.

During game action, Andreychuk moves the puck up the ice as the Lightning try to even the score.

Later in the period, Jagr positions for a shot on goal. The Rangers beat the Lightning 5-2.
