A section of the Bayshore Boulevard jogging path was washed away by large waves.

Dead fish washed up on shore and baked in the Florida sun.

Gusty winds, torrential down pours and crashing waves from storm surge affected MacDill this past weekend when Hurricane Dennis barreled up the Gulf of Mexico and made land-fall in the Florida Panhandle.

Although the eye of Dennis was more than 100 miles west of MacDill, the base experienced minor damage from the storm.

With 18 weeks left to this year's hurricane season, MacDill members brace themselves for a long summer. Here are a few good Web sites to mark as "favorites" and use as references throughout the season:

http://nhc.noaa.gov - for tracking storms.

http://public.macdill.amc.af.mil - for base information.

http://www.hillsboroughcounty.org/emergency/home.cfm - for local information.
