Thank you for being ready
by Col. Maggie Woodward
The Operational Readiness Inspection is here...and we are ready! Ready to show pride, dedication and commitment that makes us the world's best Air Mobility Wing!
In the past fiscal year, we flew more than 8,700 hours (greater than 20 percent more than the previous year), including countless combat support missions and almost 1,500 Combatant Command support missions to over 90 countries. In the last year, we deployed almost 1,000 servicemembers to support operations at over 35 locations, for a total of 40,613 days deployed.
We enabled our Mission Partners to lead the Global War on Terrorism and Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom, ensuring a world free from the bitter grip of extremism. And all this while hosting two CORONAs, Air Mobility Command Rally, International Special Operations Forces week and countless other events and visitors with our characteristic skill, professionalism and energy.
It is time to show the Inspector General what each of us already knows... that we are truly outstanding.
As I traveled around the wing during our final preparation exercise, pride was pouring through. Each and every one of you deserves credit for all you have done and I sincerely thank you...your commitment shows.
To 2nd Lt. Matt Gosselin from the 6th Logistics Readiness Squadron, who directed and oversaw mobility folder reviews that led to the near-perfect look on the last exercise, thank you.
To Chief Master Sgt. (sel.)Tom Hincman, from the 6th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, who personally trained all crew chiefs on 8044 preparation and their role, thank you.
To Maj. Clay Pflieger from the 91st Air Refueling Squadron, who envisioned, initiated and created the 6th Air Mobility Wing Part Task Trainer program, greatly improving comprehension and performance, thank you.
To Maj. Dave Parlotz, who took over as 6th Air Mobility Wing Command Post Chief only five months ago and hit the ground running. Your leadership brought controller testing scores up 18 percent and pass rates soared almost 70 percent, thank you.
To the entire Wing Plans staff who have worked tirelessly to ensure that we are all better prepared and more capable, thank you.
These are just six examples of some 3,200 people committed to making MacDill shine. The fact is, people with your outstanding attitude always have been and always will be the difference between organizations that succeed and those that do not. And at MacDill, we keep winning because our team is loaded with winners just like you. So, "Best of the Best," put on that winning attitude, extend a welcoming hand to the IG and show them precisely why we are "The Champions."
