Thank you for your efforts during the past 3 storms
by Brig. Gen. Tanker Snyder
It is an honor to be back with our MacDill team after my 110 day deployment to the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility.
Sincere thanks to Col. Brian Kelly and Col. Don Halpin for their outstanding leadership of this team. I was delighted to hear about all the great things Team MacDill accomplished over the past four months.
Together you displayed incredible teamwork, preparedness and leadership throughout the past three hurricanes, whether they were hits or near misses. Our thoughts and prayers go out to those affected by hurricanes Charley, Frances and Ivan.
These storms have presented us with many challenges and uncertainty. The teamwork I saw through Frances and Ivan, and what the wing leadership saw through Charley, impressed us all. The MacDill team consists of the 6th Air Mobility Wing, U.S. Central Command, U.S. Special Operations Command, 49 other mission partners, dependents, retirees and civilians. All these working parts came together as one to protect our people and resources.
Furthermore, the Adopt-a-Family program is only successful because of the concern and good will we all share. When a hurricane threatens MacDill, there are several mission-essential personnel, to include, evacuation crews, a hurricane ride out team and a recovery team, who are called upon to serve.
Although their families do not have their help, the tremendous success of the Adopt-a-Family program has delivered a support program for these families, and the families of deployed members, through safe house and safe haven locations.
The well preparedness of MacDill, success of the Adopt-a-Family program and the teamwork you have all shown is just another example of our world-class base. Thank you.
